We tend to remember a building as a whole: the proportion of its façade, the light across a room, the way it meets the landscape. Yet our daily experience of it is often much smaller. A handle in the hand. A door opened towards a garden. A view framed from a favourite chair.
These moments deserve a place in the design conversation. A window is not only a rectangle on an elevation, and a slender frame is not a complete brief. How an opening moves, where furniture will sit, how it will be cleaned and what happens at its edges all belong in the same discussion.
For us, the most interesting idea of luxury is not excess. It is consideration: knowing why a line sits where it does, why a finish has been chosen and why one opening arrangement makes more sense than another. There can be restraint in the appearance and real depth in the thought behind it.
As you plan your next space, begin with the life around the opening. Bring the view, the movement, the room and the practical questions together. The technical decisions will have a clearer purpose when the human ones have been understood.
